Skoda has released significant details about its forthcoming electric SUV, the Peaq, which was previously known only as the production-spec version of the Vision 7S concept. Positioned at the pinnacle of Skoda’s expanding electric vehicle portfolio, which currently includes the Elroq and Enyaq, the new Peaq is slated for a global debut later this year.
Platform and Powertrain Options
Modular Electrification Toolkit Foundation
The Skoda Peaq will be built upon the versatile Modular Electrification Toolkit (MEB) platform, a cornerstone of Volkswagen Group’s electric mobility strategy. This robust architecture underpins a range of the group’s battery-electric vehicles, ensuring a sophisticated and efficient foundation for Skoda’s new flagship.
Variant and Battery Choices
Customers will have access to three distinct variants of the Peaq, each offering different performance characteristics and range capabilities. These variants will be supported by two distinct battery sizes: a 63kWh unit and a larger 91kWh option. This selection aims to cater to a broad spectrum of consumer needs, from urban commuting to longer journeys.
Skoda Peaq Dimensions and Practicality
Skoda’s Largest Model to Date
The Peaq is set to become Skoda’s largest production model yet. It will measure 4,874mm in length, stand 1,664mm tall, and boast a substantial wheelbase of 2,965mm. This extended wheelbase significantly surpasses that of the current Skoda Enyaq, which has a wheelbase of 2,766mm, and is also longer than the Kodiaq’s 2,791mm wheelbase, signalling a considerable increase in interior space.
Exceptional Cargo Capacity
In its 5-seater configuration, the Skoda Peaq EV is expected to offer the largest boot capacity of any Skoda production model. It can accommodate up to 1,010 litres of luggage. The 7-seater variant provides a more modest 299 litres of cargo space. Both configurations will benefit from a 37-litre front trunk (frunk). A unique ‘Simply Clever’ feature will be an integrated QR code within the boot area; scanning this code will provide users with an explainer video on how to maximize the boot’s utility.
Skoda Peaq Technical Specifications
Performance Variants and Battery Performance
The Skoda Peaq will be offered with lithium-ion (NMC) battery packs in 63kWh and 91kWh capacities. The 63kWh battery powers the entry-level rear-wheel-drive variant, delivering a claimed range of over 460km. The larger 91kWh battery pack is available for both a mid-spec rear-wheel-drive model and the top-spec all-wheel-drive version, offering a substantial range exceeding 600km on a single charge.
Power Outputs and Acceleration
The base ’60’ and mid-spec ’90’ variants feature a single electric motor producing up to 286 horsepower. The range-topping ’90x’ variant enhances performance with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, generating a combined output of up to 299 horsepower. This variant is also the quickest, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. The ’90’ variant achieves the same sprint in 7.1 seconds, while the ’60’ variant takes 8.6 seconds.
Charging Capabilities
While specific peak charging speeds are yet to be disclosed, Skoda has indicated that all variants of the Peaq will support DC fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. The ’60’ variant is quoted at under 27 minutes, while the ’90’ and ’90x’ variants are rated at under 28 minutes for the same charging range.
Top Speed
The top speed for the ’60’ variant is electronically limited to 160 km/h. The more powerful ’90’ and ’90x’ models can reach a higher top speed of 180 km/h, reflecting their enhanced performance focus.
Skoda Peaq Interior and Technology Features
Innovative ‘Simply Clever’ Touches
True to Skoda’s heritage, the Peaq will incorporate several ‘Simply Clever’ features designed for everyday convenience. These include a dedicated ticket holder, a foldable table, and integrated washers within the front windscreen wipers. A microfiber cloth for cleaning the large touchscreen and panoramic sunroof will also be provided.
Advanced Infotainment and Displays
The interior will be dominated by a large, portrait-oriented 13.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system running an Android-based operating system. Complementing this is a 10-inch digital driver’s display. Wireless charging, an augmented-reality head-up display, and an electrochromic panoramic sunroof with adjustable opacity are also among the technological offerings.
Optional Relax Package
For enhanced passenger comfort, an optional Relax Package will be available. This package includes seats with a massage function and electrically adjustable footrests. It also allows for simultaneous adjustment of the car’s climate control and ambient lighting. The package further enhances the experience with plush pillows, a foldable table, and a wellness app offering modes for relaxation, stretching, and re-energising.
Skoda Peaq Exterior Design
Modern Solid Design Language
The Skoda Peaq adopts the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language. Despite camouflage on pre-production models, the front fascia is characterized by a sculpted design featuring a gloss-black panel and integrated LED Matrix headlights. Aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels will be available in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches. The exterior design also features a relatively flat beltline and a prominent rear spoiler. Buyers will have up to 10 exterior colour options to choose from.
Sustainable Interior Materials
The interior will utilize a significant proportion of recycled and sustainable materials, aligning with Skoda’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Leather upholstery is planned to be offered at a later stage. Depending on the chosen trim level, the steering wheel will either be a two-spoke or a three-spoke design.
Market Introduction and India Prospects
Global Reveal and India Launch Possibility
Skoda has not yet announced a precise launch date for the Peaq SUV, but a global reveal is anticipated in mid-2026. Skoda previously showcased the Vision 7S concept at the Auto Expo in January 2025, sparking speculation about the potential introduction of the Peaq to the Indian market. While no official confirmation has been made for India, the previous concept display suggests a possible future availability.
