Marco Bezzecchi continued his extraordinary run of form at the 2026 MotoGP season, clinching a commanding victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The factory Aprilia rider led every single one of the 23 laps, demonstrating a level of dominance that saw him take the chequered flag unchallenged. This marks Bezzecchi’s second consecutive grand prix win of the season and his fourth in a row stretching back to the previous year.
A Masterclass in Control: Bezzecchi’s Perfect Race
Starting from pole position, Bezzecchi executed a perfect holeshot, immediately establishing his authority over the field. He controlled the pace from the very beginning, never relinquishing the lead. His flawless execution allowed Aprilia to secure a remarkable 1-2 finish, with teammate Jorge Martin crossing the line in second place.
Bezzecchi’s victory is not just a personal triumph but a significant milestone for Aprilia. He becomes the first rider in the factory’s history to achieve four consecutive Grand Prix wins. This remarkable streak began with the final two races of the 2025 season and has continued into 2026 with victories in Thailand and now Brazil. Across these four dominant performances, Bezzecchi has led every single lap, a testament to his exceptional skill and the performance of his Aprilia machine.
Intense Battles Emerge in Bezzecchi’s Wake
While Bezzecchi enjoyed a serene ride at the front, the race behind him was a pulsating affair, marked by strategic battles and daring overtakes. After a strong start, Fabio Di Giannantonio settled into second place, with Marc Marquez close behind in third.
The dynamic shifted on lap six when Di Giannantonio attempted a move up the inside of Marquez. Both riders ran wide, creating an opportunity that Jorge Martin seized with aplomb. Martin skillfully navigated past both riders to take second position, a crucial move that solidified Aprilia’s strong showing.
Martin settled into his rhythm, gradually closing the gap to Bezzecchi in the initial stages. However, he eventually appeared to manage his pace, securing a valuable second-place finish. This result represents Martin’s best performance on the Aprilia RS-GP and serves as a significant confidence boost following his return to the podium in the preceding Sprint race after recovering from injury.
Di Giannantonio and Marquez Engage in a Gripping Duel for Third
The battle for the final podium spot raged intensely. With five laps remaining, Marc Marquez made a decisive move to reclaim third place from Di Giannantonio. However, the VR46 rider demonstrated resilience and determination.
Marquez attempted another overtake a few corners later, but he ran slightly wide. Di Giannantonio, ever opportunistic, immediately surged back through, retaking third position and holding on to secure the final podium place for Aprilia.
Further down the field, Ai Ogura showcased strong pace, battling past Alex Marquez to claim fifth. The Gresini rider secured sixth, with Pedro Acosta finishing seventh after a challenging weekend. Fermin Aldeguer marked his return with an eighth-place finish, while Johann Zarco and Raul Fernandez completed the top ten.
Disappointment for Championship Contenders
The Brazilian Grand Prix proved to be a race to forget for several key championship contenders. Francesco Bagnaia and Joan Mir were among the riders who suffered unfortunate crashes, failing to finish the race. The retirements of prominent riders like Brad Binder and Jack Miller also reshuffled the points standings.
Championship Standings Take a New Shape
Marco Bezzecchi’s flawless victory propels him to the top of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship standings. He now leads with a comfortable 56 points. His Aprilia teammate, Jorge Martin, occupies second place with 45 points, highlighting the team’s exceptional form.
Pedro Acosta, who started the weekend as championship leader, drops to third with 42 points following a difficult weekend in Brazil. Fabio Di Giannantonio, the leading Ducati rider in the standings, sits in fourth position with 36 points, while Marc Marquez rounds out the top five with 34 points, showcasing the competitive nature of the season.
